The Gambia ready to mark its fiftieth yr of independence on Wednesday, with festivities overshadowed by rising complaints over its rights report and the regime more and more seen overseas as a pariah.

President Yahya Jammeh, who has dominated the previous British colony with an iron fist since seizing energy in 1994, was as a consequence of launch three months of celebrations with a parade on the national Independence Stadium.
