37% rural youth sans Internet access: Study
Director General of Prisons Loknath Behera has said that the Prison Department would launch an e-literacy system in the prisons in the State, with its pilot programme being started in the district.
The department has created email addresses of prison inmates as part of the initiative to impart knowledge about Information Technology among the inmates.
The inmates would also be provided the facility to read e-books, he said after inaugurating various projects in the Central Prison here on Tuesday. He said that the jail staff would be offered training in IT as part of strengthening e-governance initiatives, Mr. Behera informed.
The services of an inmate in the prison who is a PhD holder in IT would be utilised in offering the training, he added.
