‘Optical fibre in 5202 panchayats by March’

BSNL has been given the responsibility of Digital India project in Bihar and 16 other states. India has been divided into two parts, one which has the internet facility and the other lacking it. This digital divide has to be removed by laying optical fibre in every panchayat to provide broadband connectivity to rural India, said S L Singh, chief general manager, BSNL, Bihar Circle, on Saturday.

“The government of India intends to provide broadband connectivity through optical fibre to all the 2,50,000 villages in the country for the implementation of various services like e-health, e-education and e-governance. Our aim is to connect rural areas with high-speed internet network through National Optical Fibre Network,” Singh said.
