First-year engineering student arrested for posting spiteful message on social network

A 20 year old student was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly tweeting that he would kill around 3000 Muslims.

Amitesh Singh, a first-year civil engineering student in Pune based college, on May 2 had posted this hateful message on his twitter account. The post drew attention after which several Muslims urged the police to take action against him.

According to a leading daily, Amitesh had claimed in his post that he was the vice-president of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Yuva Morcha. However, in the police investigation, it turned out to be a false claim. The party leaders told the investigators that Amitesh was neither a party activist nor an office-bearer.
