Telcos-VoIP apps partnership is answer to net neutrality woes

The Internet, more specifically its neutrality, has become a key battleground in India. Two initiatives, aimed at giving Internet access to people who don’t have it yet, have triggered a series of protests and sparked deep concerns over their impact on net neutrality.

The two players

Airtel Zero and Facebook’s internet.org are the two said initiatives.

The first is an offering by Indian telecom operator Airtel that gives companies the ability to purchase data from them and offer their app inclusive of data. It essentially means you should be able to use an app that is listed with Airtel Zero without a data plan.
