37% rural youth sans Internet access: Study
The government said on Wednesday that there has been an improvement in the menace of call drops in Delhi as telecom companies spruced up their mobile infrastructure, but added that operators still remain short of the optimum quality benchmark mandated by the regulator.
Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, however, said that the government does not plan to intervene in the penalty regime that regulator Trai has stipulated over dropped calls from the beginning of next year.
“There has been an improvement in call drops after we stepped in to address the issue. However, more needs to be done,” Prasad said as he gave details on the steps being taken by the operators to improve the network.
