Civic body’s ‘intelligent’ traffic system remains non-operational

The city would have had a CCTV surveillance system in place much earlier had the civic body not been caught in connectivity issues. The Pune Municipal Corporation has been struggling for the last seven years to operate its Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS), which also has surveillance cameras, even as the city police started its own CCTV network two days ago. The civic body is now planning to connect the CCTV cameras with the system of the Pune police. The company that completed the work of the city police, will now be assigned to complete the connectivity work as well as the maintenance of ITMS.
