The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is the proud recipient of not one, but two e-governance awards. Even then, it claims it needs help of a private operator to operate the auto DCR, the computerized system that is used to approve building plans.
The NMC was supposed to take over the system free of cost from consortium of two private companies on November 9, 2014. According to the agreement signed with private firms on November 9, 2009, the system was to be developed by private firms on PPP model and then operated by collecting charges from the applicants for five years. Then, the civic body would get the system free of cost from the firms.
