Freedom of Expression and Nationalism do Coexist: Jaitley

NEW DELHI: Amid the JNU row and the controversy over AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi’s refusal to chant Bharat Mata ki Jai, the BJP termed the Hyderabad MP’s move as disrespect to the Constitution, while also hitting out at the Congress and other Opposition parties.

“Refusal to chant victory to Bharat tantamounts to disrespect to our Constitution itself. Bharat Mata ki Jai is not merely a slogan. It was a mantra for freedom fighters. The BJP wishes to make it clear that it will firmly oppose any attempt to disrespect Bharat and weaken its unity and integrity,” said the political resolution adopted by the party during its two-day national executive meet in Delhi.
