Online news editors of two prominent news portals were arrested on charges of defaming Kochi Mayor Tony Chammany. News published by the websites alleged that the Mayor went to Muscat after misinforming the public that he was leaving for Velankanni. The foreign visits had become controversial after the Mayor apparently skipped important meetings.
